"Greek fire from a semi-acoustic Ibanez with an unmodified
Mesa Boogie amp and no foot pedals"

Preview Jack Massarik
A Greek guitarist, a French tenor sax player, and a drum and bass
combination from both sides of the Middle-East divide.
Their intelligent interplay put their politicians to shame.
Tassos using a standard semi-acoustic Ibanez with an
unmodified Mesa Boogie amp and (extra bonus points )
no foot pedals at all, developed his melodic originals into a
lucid flow of elegant ideas. He recently worked in America, and
heard at first hand, their new breed of guitarists, including
Kurt Rosenwinkel and Ben Monder. Like them he plays with no
obvious stylistic debt, but traces of 3 famous Johns did occasionally
appear, oblique wide-intervals suggest John Mclaughlin, at other
times the rougher edged tone of John Scofield and the orderly
phrasing of John Abercombie.
Robin Finker another arists difficult ot categorise, played tenor
sax with an airy freedom somewhere between Wayne Marsh and
Wayne Shorter, plus the precised high-register control of a Mark Turner.
Grooving behind them were Israeli bassist Yaron Stavi and Palestinian drummer Asaf Sirkis
(Gilad Atzmon's favourite rhythm section).
Their latest album is full of beautiful melodies and superb playing.
